Core Game Rules:
- The game is played on an 8x8 checkerboard with 16 pieces per side.
- Pieces move according to traditional chess laws: Pawns advance 1 (or 2 on start), Knights jump in L-shapes, Bishops move diagonally, Rooks horizontally/vertically, Queens in all directions, and Kings 1 square.
- Special moves include Castling (King + Rook safety move), En Passant (pawn capture), and Pawn Promotion upon reaching the 8th rank.
- Check occurs when a King is under direct attack. Checkmate occurs when the King is in check with no legal move to escape, ending the game in victory.
Winning Strategies & Tips:
- Control the Four Center Squares (e4, d4, e5, d5): Placing pawns and knights in the center grants your pieces greater mobility across the board.
- Develop Knights Before Bishops: Bring minor pieces into active play during the opening before moving major pieces.
- Castle Early for King Safety: Castling protects your King behind a wall of pawns and activates your Rook toward central open files.
- Don't Bring the Queen Out Too Early: Early Queen moves allow opponents to develop their minor pieces while attacking your exposed Queen.
